Strawberry Jam

by Josée

Last year, I didn’t can strawberries. I never came across enough affordable organic strawberries to make much of anything. Strawberries are one of the worst fruits for pesticide contamination. According to this list it comes in third place, after celery (no. 1) and peaches (no. 2). But, I couldn’t go another year without strawberry jam. So, I bought 4lbs of non-organic Californian strawberries and put up 8 half-pints of strawberry jam. It’s not local and full of pesticides but it tastes amazing! So this year I will be enjoying 8 half-pints of pesticide laced strawberry jam goodness. I can’t wait!

Hilarious. Sometimes I think we would starve if we didn't concede… Wish we didn't have to!

You know… even with the non organic pesticides, it still doesn't have any of the preservatives or other crap that is in store jam.

That's how I feel about doing peaches and nectarines. Sure they aren't organic but we are going to eat peaches anyway and if I can them myself at least they aren't packed full of nasty stuff and in BPA lined cans.

…I'll stop ranting now. Enjoy your jam, it's very pretty!
