How to Plan a Christmas Bird Count for Kids: Tips and Activities
This past December, I had the joy of collaborating with Alex Bodden, president of the South Okanagan Naturalist Society, to bring the first-ever...
In the last week we have been blessed with lots of beautiful snow. Temperatures have stayed consistently close to or below freezing with little snow melt and long term predictions suggest colder weather for the coming weeks. It seems that the snow will stay, at least for a while, and I am happy for it. Along with the snow, we have been blessed with holiday visitors. My sister and her husband stayed with us for about a week and now Grandpapa and Memère are here. My children have been enjoying all the perks that come with having extended family around, and I have to admit so am I! For the last week my brother-in-law graciously fed my children breakfast almost every morning allowing me to enjoy leisurely mornings. My sister helped with cooking, cleaning and entertained the children with stories. Now my in-laws are here spoiling us with their loving presence.
This afternoon we tool a leisurely walk around the neighbourhood. I received a new zoom lens from my husband and played with while everyone enjoyed the snow. I have never owned a zoom lens before and find it rather fascinating. The one I received is the Olympus M.Zuiko 40-150MM 4-5.6R Lens. The lens isn’t professional grade but for the price it is a great starting point to experiment with zoom. So far I am quite happy with it and I think it will give me a good idea of what I want in a zoom lens for future camera investments.
Wishing you fun days of winter play!
