The dog days of summer are here! The air is hot and sultry, drawing my littles and me into every cool lake, pooland water table we can find. Our days are unplanned and slower paced, with micro-adventures that pop up like flowers in our small garden. If you want to follow along on our daily adventures check out my Instgram stories.

☀️ Plan Ahead: A few ideas need a bit of setup. Lay out blankets and flashlights for Sleep Under the Stars Night, or grab a pizza box and foil for your Solar S’mores celebration.
🌳 Stay Flexible: If a prompt doesn’t suit your space (no beach nearby?), swap Beach in a Jar for an easy Egg Carton Hunt—make it yours.
👂 Engage the Senses: August hums with cicadas at dusk, smells of ripe peaches on Eat a Peach Day, and feels like cool dew on Dew Webs at dawn. Ask: What does that dew feel like? How juicy is a perfectly ripe blackberry during your Berry Taste-Test? Let every sense lead the way.
📸 Capture the Moments: Snap photos or sketch in a nature journal when you’re doing Feather Forensics or layering your Beach in a Jar. These tiny keepsakes become big family treasures.
🌦 Celebrate Small Wins: Spotting a honey bee on Honey Bee Day, mastering your best skip on Stone Skipping, or catching a falling star during the Peak Perseid Meteor Shower—every spark of wonder grows a lifelong love for nature.
🔄 Combine Activities: Layer prompts to extend the fun—build a sandcastle on Sandcastle Day, then use leftover sand and shells to craft your Beach in a Jar.
🌸 Reflect & Reset: As August wraps up, gather and chat: Which prompt surprised you under the Sturgeon Full Moon? Which tree scent from Forest Breath sticks with you? Which day will you chase again next summer? These reflections plant seeds for deeper connection to come.
